At Stereo Café we are passionate about coffee. It sounds like a cliche but it’s true. A passion which has grown slowly built through time, hard work and dedication to a cause - to share our growing love and exploration of the world of coffee with you.
It started in 2011 with pure distribution of freshly roasted coffee and a small coffee stall at a weekly food market and grew into the coffee roastery that it is today! The café opened it’s doors in January 2014 with a small line of coffee. We now roast several single origin coffees and three coffees which make up our house espresso blend and continue to look for new exciting coffee to offer our clients in Bloemfontein and the rest of South Africa - yes we can ship your orders to you!
Not only do we pride ourselves in the quality of coffee that we offer, we also believe in using world class equipment to grind a serve our coffee to highlight the flavours. We also filter our water to ensure the best taste. Here is a list of the equipment we use daily to ensure our coffee is roasted, ground and served at it’s best:
Coffee Roaster : Genio Intelligent Roasters - Genio 15 Precision
Espresso Machine : La Marzocco Linea - 2 Group
Espresso Grinder : Mahlkonig K30 Vario Air
Shop Grinder : Mahlkonig EK43 and Mahlkonig Tanzania
Batch Filter : Technivorm Moccamaster
When you visit Stereo Cafe, ask for James. He is the owner, roasts the coffee, is a barista and all round coffee snob. He doesn’t like the “snob” term though… He and his team will give you the best advice on which coffee to use after asking you a few questions - be patient as there is a good reason to find out all we can about your coffee making equipment and experience.
Not only do we sell our roasted coffee, we also have a variety of coffee equipment - from JURA automatic coffee machines, Bialetti Moka pots to Hario V60 dippers, Chemex and Aeropress coffee makers. Not to mention coffee grinders in various shapes and sizes!
At Stereo Café we are passionate about our coffee and the industry we are part of. That is why we invest in membership of two very important industry associations: the Specialty Coffee Association, and the Speciality Coffee Association of Southern Africa.
The SCA is a non-profit international membership-based association unifying all members of the coffee value chain, from coffee farmers and roasters to baristas in cafes around the world. Its goal is to make coffee better by raising standards worldwide through collaboration. The SCA offers accredited courses for the industry to educate its members and improve the standards within the industry.
SCASA is an association for the coffee industry in South Africa and an agent for World Coffee Events and the World Barista Championship. They regularly host events to promote the professional coffee industry in South Africa and arrange the regional and national Barista Championships. The national winner represents South Africa at the World Barista Championship.
